WHAT WE DO
National Network
Children's Health Project of DETROIT
The Children’s Health Project of Detroit (CHPD) provides primary care and behavioral health services to children ages 5-21, regardless of health insurance coverage or ability to pay.
The clinics are located within more than a dozen schools in Detroit, Lincoln Park, and Macomb County. There is also one community location, as well as a mobile medical unit that travels throughout CHPD’s service area. Using a mobile and school-based clinic allows the program to reach children and adolescents who might otherwise face barriers to accessing care, such as lack of transportation to medical appointments or physician shortages.
The sites are youth-friendly and age-appropriate and allow clinicians and service providers to meet young people in spaces where they spend most of their waking hours, feel comfortable, and are open to learning.
