Actress Meg Donnelly Hosts Discussion on Teen Anxiety with Children’s Health Fund

teen-anxiety

During this pandemic it’s been hard to keep physically and mentally healthy. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and a great time to talk about this topic. As an organization that focuses on children’s health, we are very concerned about how children and teens are faring as they deal with upended routines, restricted access to the outdoors and friends, financial stress, challenges in keeping the pace of learning going, mourning the death of loved ones, and so much more. These stressors are no doubt affecting their mental wellbeing and potentially causing elevated anxiety.

That’s why we teamed up with one of our youngest advocates, Meg Donnelly, star of ABC’s American Housewife and Disney’s Zombies who will discuss the topic of Teen Anxiety in the Time of Covid-19 on Thursday, May 21 at 4pm Pacific, 7pm Eastern live on Instagram at @megdonnelly. As someone who struggles with anxiety, she comments that “Learning about mental health and opening up about it has really helped me cope and feel less alone.”

She will be joined by Dr. Arash Anoshiravani who specializes in adolescent medicine and behavioral health. He is the director of the Teen Health Van program at Stanford University supported by Children’s Health Fund. This program provides free healthcare to uninsured, homeless, and underinsured youth throughout the region and is also providing testing for Covid-19.

Dr. Anoshiravani and Meg will be discussing how anxiety impacts teens and young people from a clinical perspective and some ways to manage symptoms.

Meg is passionate about normalizing the conversations surrounding mental health in teens. By sharing her own experiences with anxiety, she hopes she can inspire others to express themselves more freely, finding new and beneficial coping mechanisms. Together with Dr. Anoshiravani, they will give you tips for how to help yourself or your teen cope during this difficult time.

Don’t miss it and share the post below with others who you think can benefit.

Join us this Thursday, May 21st for a #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth conversation on Teen Anxiety in the Time of COVID-19 with our good friend @megdonnelly of ‘American Housewife’ and Dr. Anoshiravani of @stanfordteenvan on Meg’s IG Live at 4pm PST, 7pm ET. For teens and young people especially, education and conversation can help break the isolation and stigma associated with mental health. And in this uniquely challenging time, this is especially important so young people know they are not alone. Learn more about anxiety, hear about Meg’s experience coping with it, and learn tips to help yourself or your teen. See you Thursday on Meg’s IG Live @megdonnelly!
