Five weeks ago the reprise from students across the country was “Never Again”; yet here we are today, watching as the details are released on yet another school shooting. We are deeply saddened by the news of this morning’s tragic event at Great Mills High School in Maryland, and continue to add our voice in support of students calling for action.
Just last week activists placed 7,000 pairs of shoes on Capitol lawn to represent children who have died in the United States from gunshot wounds since the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. Were it not for the bravery of the school resource officer, today that macabre image could have added more soles, already over 14,000 too many.
This Saturday, March 24th, Children’s Health Fund stands in support of the March for Our Lives nationwide protest as we join in our country’s cry, “No More.” We want our children to live in a world where they can go to school and worry solely about getting an education; we want a future where parents can ask the question “how was your day?,” without fear of hearing the worst.
We encourage you, as supporters of children’s health, to get involved and share your voice this weekend. You don’t have to travel to our nation’s capital to be heard. Find your local march here.
