About the Project

Originally created in response to Hurricane Andrew in 1992, the South Florida Children's Health Project (SFCHP) continues to provide services to the city of Miami and surrounding Miami-Dade County, serving urban and rural areas.

Families served by the project face significant barriers to health care such as lack of insurance, lack of transportation, and language/cultural barriers. The SFCHP focuses on providing care to a number of high-risk populations, including migrant families, uninsured working families, recent immigrants and high-risk groups including foster children and chronically ill pediatric populations, such as those with HIV and asthma.

The project provides comprehensive primary care at elementary schools and community centers throughout Miami-Dade County.
