The Phoenix Children's Health Project provides services to homeless and runaway youth 21 years and under in the city of Phoenix.
Currently, thousands of youth live on the streets of Phoenix, many in desperate need of medical treatment. Most face substantially increased risk of illness, injury and depression due to the hardships they face living on the street. Most lack health insurance and have significant psychosocial barriers to accessing appropriate health care.Conditions frequently treated by the project include acute illnesses such as respiratory and ear infections, trauma, skin and eye disorders, asthma, sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse and mental health issues.
By bringing comprehensive primary care directly to at-risk youth, the Phoenix Children's Health Project is able to provide an accessible medical home to an extremely vulnerable population.
