Our Sunset Cocktails on Mill Pond fundraiser in the Hamptons was a big success, raising $140,000 to help us bring health care to homeless or otherwise vulnerable children. The party, and special guest Julianne Moore, also caught the attention of the lifestyle and fashion media.
Hamptons-based Beach magazine profiled Julianne Moore and the incredible work she does to get the word out about our programs. "People pay a lot of lip service to how you get medical care to underserved populations in our country, but this is an actual solution that is superpractical, very simple and unbelievably effective," Julianne told Beach's Cristina Cuomo about our programs. She also talked about her own children, her hidden talent for cleaning, and what she was doing when she found out she won the Best Actress prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival (hint: it wasn't glamorous!)
HipHamptons.com quoted several party guests, including U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, who said: "You can’t learn when you don’t feel well – even simple maladies. By supporting the Children’s Health Fund you’re helping keep the American dream shining brightly for future generations.”
Our wonderful hosts, Paul and Lisa Metselaar, were highlighted in Times Square Chronicles.
NewYorkSocialDiary.com also posted a writeup and many photos of the event, noting the "tempting goodies" available in the live auction.
Stylist.co.uk included Julianne's outfit, generously donated by hot designer Valentina Kova, in its roundup of weekend celebrity fashion. Fashion Week Daily also highlighted Kova and her burgeoning partnership with Children's Health Fund.
