Every child should have access to health care. But for millions of kids, that isn’t the case.
Imagine having to drive more than 50 miles to take your child to the nearest hospital or doctor, because there isn't a pediatrician in your area. Or, that you live in a large city with some of the best doctors in the nation, and you are locked out from the vital care you need because the doctors don't take Medicaid.
Access to doctors and specialists. Transportation issues. Language and cultural barriers. It is challenges like these that prevent many kids from just getting to a regular well-child visit to treat a chronic illness before it results in a more serious ER visit or preventable hospitalization.
For more than 20 years, Children's Health Fund has worked to eliminate barriers that prevent homeless and low-income kids from getting the care they need. As the leading pediatric provider of mobile-based health care, dedicated medical teams from Children’s Health Fund programs bring services directly to kids in rural and urban communities via the largest fleet of mobile medical clinics in the U.S.
Today, we have nearly 50 mobile medical, dental and mental health clinics on the road from the streets of New York and Los Angeles to the rolling hills of West Virginia and the desert landscape of Southern Arizona. Our dedicated teams of doctors and staff have provided more than 2 million health care visits to kids around the U.S.
