Carlos Naranjo, case manager for the Hispanic Outreach Initiative on our New Orleans mobile clinic, recently won an Angel Award from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana. Now Blue Cross has produced this wonderful video exploring his impact on the community.
Carlos, who came to the U.S. from Cuba as a teenager, has worked doggedly to connect young Hispanic immigrants to the services on the mobile clinic. Before he joined the mobile clinic team, 4 percent of its patients were immigrant children. Today that number stands at 46 percent. Since immigrants often face multiple barriers to care, the mobile medical clinic may represent their only chance to have a doctor of their own.
We’re proud of Carlos and all the outreach workers who help kids in need of care find it on our mobile clinics.
