Healthy Teeth, Healthy Me

Sesame Street's Abby Cadabby visits Children's Health Fund's NY mobile dental clinic

Dr. Manali Kanitkar, a pediatric dentist at our New York program, recently had a special guest visit her on our mobile dental clinic – Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street.  Abby stopped by for a check-up and to share some important news about a great resource for children and parents called Healthy Teeth, Healthy Me.

Tooth decay is one of the most common health problems impacting young children’s primary teeth.  And, according to the latest Surgeon General’s report, more than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental-related conditions.

Abby knows that children with healthy teeth are better able to learn in school, maintain strong bodies, feel good about themselves, and build lifelong healthy habits…and Children’s Health Fund couldn’t agree more.  Our own national oral health initiative, Healthy Kids, Healthy Smiles, funded through a grant by MetLife Foundation will help support oral health care for low-income and homeless children and families via mobile dental clinics in New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and Washington DC.

To support the families we serve to improve the oral health of their children, Children’s Health Fund is a distribution partner for the Healthy Teeth, Health Me outreach kit  -- which features brand new songs, animated segments and celebrity guests Bruno Mars, David Hyde Pierce, Nicole Kidman, Amy Ryan, Wendy Williams, Jay Sean, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber – to programs in our National Network.

Thank you Abby Cadabby, Sesame Street and all of your partners for helping spread healthy smiles to more children.
