Children's Health Fund has announced a five-year gift to the National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP). CHF and NCDP have shared interests in assuring that the special needs and concerns of children – especially vulnerable children – are incorporated in disaster planning at federal, state and local levels in terms of preparing for, responding to or recovery from catastrophic events.
There is a long history of collaborative work between CHF and NCDP in responding to major disasters, including Hurricane Katrina, the BP oil spill and Superstorm Sandy. The CHF gift will support research and policy initiatives with respect to the special needs of children threatened by or affected by large-scale disasters.
