For more than 25 years, Children’s Health Fund has been providing low-income children across the country with access to high-quality health care. Every day on our mobile medical clinics, we see children with preventable, treatable and/or manageable health conditions that have been holding them back in school – from undiagnosed vision problems to untreated asthma.
In August, 2013, Children’s Health Fund launched the EVERY CHILD A CHANCE campaign to spotlight the critical relationship between access to health care and a child’s opportunity to be healthy and ready to learn. For millions of American children, particularly the 22 percent who are living in poverty, this is an urgent problem, and as the nation addresses educational reform to improve school outcomes, it is essential to recognize that access to health care is an important part of the solution.
